On 9 December 2025, the public closing event of the ERC project “Poetry in the Digital Age” will take place, beginning at 6:00 p.m. (UTC+1). Participation is possible either in person (University of Hamburg, Von-Melle-Park 6, Room A7005) or via Zoom*, as the event will be held in a hybrid format.
This event also serves as the launch of Poetry in the Digital Age: An Interdisciplinary Handbook edited by Claudia Benthien, Vadim Keylin, and Henrik Wehmeier, which will be published with De Gruyter on 19.11.2025. With 50 contributions from internationally renowned scholars, the handbook represents the state of the art in interdisciplinary poetry research and covers four major areas: (1) contemporary adaptations of traditional poetry theory categories, (2) new and emerging poetry formats, (3) interdisciplinary perspectives, and (4) current debates. Half of the articles in this book were written by PoetryDA researchers and our research fellows. This makes it one of the most fundamental and important research outcomes of the project. The book will be part of the PoetryDA book series.
The formal event (6.00–7.15 p.m.) will consist of three parts:
- Brief presentation of the team and of key project results
- Presentation of Poetry in the Digital Age: An Interdisciplinary Handbook
- A short talk by Prof. Hans Kristian S. Rustad (University of Oslo) based on his article on “Posthumanism and Poetry in the Anthropocene” in our handbook.
For those attending in presence the event will be followed by a reception.
You can find the announcement poster for the final event here.
During the last two months of the project, retrospective and farewell posts from all team members will be published continuously on our Instagram channel (https://www.instagram.com/ercpoetryda/), offering a panorama of various facets of the project: anecdotes, publications, travels, insights, future plans, acknowledgments, and much more!
