We are delighted to announce the next guest curator for our Instagram profile (@ercpoetryda) for the month of February: Elizabeth Torres (@madamneverstop)! Torres is the fifth poet to take over our account, following Tanasgol Sabbagh, Christoph Wenzel, Jörg Piringer, and Cia Rinne. With our curation series taking place twice a year, we aim to broaden the scope of the collaborations between art and scholarship in our research project, explore the possibilities of poetic practices in digital media, and help to ensure that more poetry and lyricism is shared and interacted with on Instagram.
About the curator: Elizabeth Torres is a Colombian-American poet, multimedia artist, and translator. She is the author of numerous books, including the 2023 poetry release "Lotería: Nocturnal Sweepstakes" (recipient of the Ambroggio Prize by the Academy of American Poets). In her work, she combines poetry, visual elements, soundscapes, language, and performance. She employs digital media and analog tools to address themes such as agency, identity, and territory. Torres is the founder of the Poetique Phonoteque, an international multimedia poetry archive, and the host of the Red Transmissions Podcast. Additionally, she serves as the director of the Red Door Magazine.
We look forward to the coming month filled with a diverse range of multimedia contributions curated by Elizabeth Torres! Available on our Instagram profile @ercpoetryda starting February 1, 2024.
