The fourth edition of our Poetry Debates series will be dedicated to the topic “Poetry After Nature.” What contribution can poetry make in times of climate catastrophe and ecological crisis? In our present, the Anthropocene, an age where humans have fundamentally changed the world, does nature poetry still exist at all – or have we long since entered the age of poetry after nature? At four evening events, poets, performers, and scholars will discuss the significance of poetry in times of crisis; the roles played by technology and nature in poetry; the parts played by humans, artificial intelligence, and other beings in the creation of poetry; how artistic activism can disrupt power relations; and how poetry can imagine a potential future.
The opening event “Ecology Meets Technology: What Comes After the Poetry of Nature?” with Carla Cerda and Prof. Dr. Cornelia Zumbusch, will take place on October 23 at Warburg-Haus, Hamburg.
