„Why poetry?“ – new video series on Instagram

Participants at the Poetry Debates events, the PoetryDA team, and other poetry scholars answer the question “Why Poetry?” in 15 seconds. These German and English micro videos, each of them unique, will form a recurring video series on Instagram, presenting brief insights into poetic and theoretical reflections on the lyric. The poet, musician, and visual artist Johannes Heldén (Poetry Debate I.3) has started the format with musings on the temporality and future of poetry, while literary scholar Antje Schmidt (Poetry Debate I.3) emphasizes the formal (“condensed form”) and atmospheric components of poetry in her contribution. The poet Ulrike Almut Sandig (Poetry Debate I.1) expands upon these ideas with “the black center of the present” in the latest video on our Instagram page. The series was conceptualized by Magdalena Korecka.
