Prof. Dr. Eckhard Schumacher (TF)

In October and November 2024, Prof. Dr. Eckhard Schumacher (Universität Greifswald) will be a Research Fellow in our project.

He has been Professor of Modern German Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Greifswald since 2009, is director of the Wolfgang Koeppen Archives, and headed the DFG research project “Schreibweisen der Gegenwart: Zeitreflexion und literarische Verfahren nach der Digitalisierung” (2020–2023). He coedited several volumes resulting from the project, including Literatur nach der Digitalisierung: Zeitkonzepte und Gegenwartsdiagnosen (De Gruyter, 2022) and Feeds, Tweets & Timelines: Schreibweisen der Gegenwart in Sozialen Medien (transcript, 2022). Further book publications include the coedited handbook Literatur und Pop (De Gruyter 2019, with Moritz Baßler) as well as the monograph Gerade Eben Jetzt: Schreibweisen der Gegenwart (Suhrkamp, 2003).

In our ERC project, Prof. Schumacher will be affiliated with the Theory Forum. During his research stay in Hamburg, he will moderate Poetry Debate IV.II “Climate-Fiction in Poetry” on November 6, 2024..
